Questions and answers

Hosts use Hostfield for free; pros pay only if they want the $29/mo upgrade.

For hosts

Does it cost anything to find a pro here?
No. Browsing, filtering, calling, and recommending are all free for hosts. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for.
How do I book someone?
You book them directly. Tap the call button on a listing and you are talking to the business, not to us. Hostfield never takes a cut of the job or sits between you and the pro.
How do I tell who will actually pick up tonight?
Listings can carry a short line saying when that business answers, written by the pro themselves, and it shows on the card. It is their own word rather than a timetable we keep, so treat it as a good guide and not a guarantee. For anything urgent, the same-day toggle narrows the list to the pros who take emergency calls.
Can I text a pro instead of calling?
Wherever the pro says their number takes texts, the listing has a text button next to the call button, and it opens your own messages app with the first line already written. You can edit it before you send. A pro on an office line turns the button off, so you are never texting a phone that cannot answer.
Can I keep the pros I find?
Yes. Tap Save on any listing and the pro joins your crew: one page with every number on it, grouped by service. You can add your own note to each one — the rate they quoted, the notice they need — and mark the ones you have actually had out. It is all kept on your own device rather than in an account, and the page gives you a link that hands the same numbers to a co-host or a property manager. Your notes stay behind.
Something has gone wrong today. Where do I start?
Open Need someone today from the top of the home page. You say what has happened in plain words — guests arriving and it is not clean, the hot tub is off, something is broken — pick your town, and you get a short numbered list of who to call, in the order to call them, with the first text already written for today. It is the same pros as the directory, cut down to a call list instead of a page to browse.
What does the Taking work mark mean?
That the pro pressed a button on their own listing in the last eight days to say they are open for work. It is their word and not ours, which is why the card also shows how long ago they said it. A listing without the mark is not closed — plenty of busy pros never press anything — but between two listings you do not know, the one that confirmed this week is the better first call.
What does the same-day toggle actually mean?
It narrows the list to pros who told us they take same-day and emergency calls: a guest lockout, a failed water heater, a turnover that moved up. It is their own commitment, so confirm the window when you call.
Are these pros vetted?
Listings are submitted by the businesses themselves and reviewed before they appear. We do not verify licenses or insurance on your behalf, so ask for both before work starts. A Host verified mark is the strongest signal on the page: another host confirmed a job from their own email address, and the pro confirmed it separately.
How do host recommendations work?
You vouch for a pro from that pro's page, once each, with your name, the town you host in, and a line about the job. Your name and town are public; your email never is. Two confirmations follow, and the vouch needs both: we email you a link to confirm it was really you, and the pro has to confirm they have worked for you. Once both are in, the vouch is host-verified — it shows on their listing, counts in their tally, and lifts them above quieter pros in the same band.
What does the Host verified badge mean?
That a host confirmed a job from the email address they left, and that the pro separately confirmed working for them. Both halves are needed and they are reached from different places — one from the host's inbox, one from the pro's private edit link — so a pro cannot write their own recommendations and confirm them. A vouch missing either half counts for nothing and carries no badge. It is still not an identity check: we confirm a working email address stood behind the recommendation, not that anyone owns a particular Airbnb or Vrbo account, because Hostfield has no host logins. Host verified is earned and free; Verified Field Partner is the paid placement badge, and the two are separate.
My rental is outside these towns. Can you help?
Not yet. Hostfield covers Oakhurst, Bass Lake, Mariposa, and Coarsegold today. Email us the town you need and we will tell you when we open it.

For service pros

What does a listing cost?
A standard listing is free and always will be. A Featured Partner listing is $29/mo, billed monthly, and can be canceled at any time.
A host vouched for me. What do I do?
Open your private edit link. Vouches waiting on you are listed there with the host's name, town, email, and note. Confirm the ones you have really worked for; say you have not worked with someone and their vouch is hidden and counts for nothing. Nobody sees which way you answered. Your confirmation is half of it: the host also has to confirm from the address they left, and until they do the vouch shows on your listing as unverified and carries no badge. There is no way to supply that half yourself, which is what makes the badge worth having.
How do I show hosts I am still taking work?
Open your edit link and press the button at the top. Your listing carries a Taking work mark for eight days, and among listings a host has no other way to choose between, yours comes first. There is nothing to press when you are busy: the mark simply lapses, and your listing stays up either way.
How do I change my phone number or rates later?
With the private edit link you receive the moment you publish. It needs no password and no account. Bookmark it; if you lose it, email us from the address on your listing and we will resend it.
How soon does my listing go live?
Immediately. You will see it in the directory as soon as you publish, and hosts can call you from that point on.
Can I cancel or remove my listing?
Yes. Cancel a paid upgrade any time and the listing simply reverts to the free tier at the end of the period you have paid for. To remove a listing entirely, email us from the address on it.
Do you charge per lead?
Never. Hosts call you directly and the job is between the two of you. There are no commissions, lead fees, or contracts.
